Appeal from the Colloquium of Six Religious Leaders of Hong Kong
Regarding the Severe Wave of Covid-19 in Hong Kong

With the speedy soaring in Covid-19 confirmed cases in Hong Kong in July, the Government, society and the general public have been greatly disturbed and dismayed. The Colloquium of Six Religious Leaders of Hong Kong sincerely extend our well wishes and blessing to the people of Hong Kong, and hope that every one of you, when facing adversity in this difficult time, can continue to have peace of mind. The Six Religions, out of benevolence and concern, unanimously and earnestly make the following appeals:

1. Let us join hands to follow the advice of the Government and medical experts: pay attention to personal hygiene, upkeep environmental cleanliness, reduce social contact and avoid large-scale gathering.

2. Let us extend our care and concern to our family, relatives and neighbours, provide assistance for the needy, especially the elderly and the poor, and refer them to social service organizations for assistance if deemed necessary.

3. Let us take care of our own physical and psychological well-being while persisting in faith and confidence, cherish peace and harmony in our mind and heart, and extend our blessing to people around us.

4. May we all dedicate our caring thoughts and blessing to frontline healthcare staff, medical experts, people serving the public and all Hong Kong citizens, with special regard to their efforts in combatting the Covid-19 Pandemic.

We sincerely wish that the pandemic can soon be contained and the vaccine can be rapidly developed upon success in research. Let us have faith and belief that under everyone’s concerted effort to combat the virus, the economy can be quickly revived and people’s livelihood can be improved and restored to normal in the not too distant future.
